About this time every year I have to make four cards for men within a few weeks - September/October is densely packed with men's birthdays! I didn't post any at the time because I didn't want to spoil suprises but I think it should be safe now! The card above I made for my cousin's 21st, I thought a shaped card would be fun and actually it was a lot easier to do than I thought it would be - I just printed the numbers off in a big chunky font and drew round them. The papers were free with a magazine from last year which I picked up at the GNPE for £1 - bargain.
This next one is a card I'm quite proud of. I made it for my brother's 25th birthday. He's a PhD student in computational chemistry (I think, his work baffles me completely!) I started off looking online for some paper with a design of molecules, but I couldn't find any - then I remembered the last place I'd seen diagrams of molecules - in the scientific paper my brother was a joint author of earlier this year. He'd sent me a copy so I just printed it, distressed it, cut it up and voila!
To finish I just added some die-cut letters, some corners and some buttons arranged to represent a molecule of ethanol (Ed did the arranging for me actually to make sure it was right!). Unusually for me, I also decorated the inside like so:
Finally, this is the card I made for Ed for his birthday. I won't tell you how old he was, he doesn't like it mentioned ;)
As you can see I went for another shaped card, this one was very easy to do, just a bit repetetive when it came to the layers. I bought the stamp ages and ages ago, knowing it would eventually come in handy! The driver in red represents Lewis Hamilton, Ed's favourite driver (if only because on the TV infographics they abbreviate it to HAM!)
The fourth card I couldn't show you yet anyway as it isn't the person in question's birthday just yet - however I have also posted it without taking a picture so it will have to remain a secret forever! Thanks for reading and for any comments you may wish to leave - I do really enjoy reading them.
