Iain Banks seems like a nice chap

and Beverley was much more middle class than I had thought previously. Shame it was dark so we couldn't have a proper look round.

Fran and I were the youngest people there by a fair way - nothing new for us however. He read from his new novel "Transition", which confused me a bit, but sounds an interesting premise. My 'to read' pile is huge at the moment though, so I won't be buying it just yet.

I got my copy of "The Crow Road" signed... I got a bit tongue tied when it came time to actually speak to the illustrious author himself so didn't make any witty remarks or blindingly intelligent comments. Not that you would expect that from me anyway.

My grandparents, 1946

My grandparents got these photos taken to celebrate their engagement in 1946. I just love their movie-star expressions.

To get to the stage of posting this photo online, thanks to SnowLeopard I had to:

Download Windows drivers for my scanner
Copy them to external HD
Boot into Windows (I hate having to do this)
Install scanner drivers
Scan the photos
Upload the photos onto Facebook as Windows suddenly lost sight of the external HD and could not find again
Copy & paste random text to name photos and album as Windows could not see my keyboard
Boot back into OSX
Download photos from Facebook
Delete unwanted photo album from Facebook.

I am SO reverting to Leopard, when I have time to manually back everything up - I didn't do this before installing as given that Apple have never screwed my computer up before, I trusted them not to this time - huge mistake!

Can you tell that wasting my day off in this way has made me angry?

I think this is the fourth blog I've started

Although I probably shouldn't count the Livejournal.

For once I'm not glad it's Friday, because this week it means my holiday is over.

What to do today? I'd say the rain has put me off going out, but I never intended to go anywhere anyway. Apart from tonight when I'm going to a literature festival in Beverley to hear Iain Banks read. In fact today's goal should probably be to finish one of his books...

To be honest though, I'll probably just play Guitar Hero until my arm falls off.
