What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday no.2

Hi everyone. I had a fun time with WOYWW last week so here I am again! I didn't visit even nearly everybody, I was quite surprised actually by just how many people participate... something to biuld up slowly I think.

Some people wanted to see the outcome of last week's project. I hope you won't mind if I don't show it yet - it is still on its way to the recipient & I would rather it is a surprise to her.

At the moment my desk is looking like this:

At the weekend I started working on this canvas. I keep seeing all these lovely mixed media pieces on blogs, Pinterest, in magazines, etc etc. and I just thought, I'll have a proper go at that. It's not going how I wanted, really; I want to paint some of it brown, but I haven't got any brown paint, so it's sort of stalled. Supplies may need to be bought (including some sort of palette - as you can see I have been using an empty box of card blanks in that capacity). On the left you can see the book I tore pages out of for my initial layer.

Here's something else I'm thinking about getting into... an ATC. Although I have nobody to trade with, so for now I guess it's just an AC.
I have a bit of a thing for making tags with song lyrics on and this mania seemed to translate pretty well to this format. This one's Queens of the Stone Age. I used Distress Inks (Peacock Feathers & Peeled Paint), an Indigo Blu stamp, some multimedium and words cut from a book - the book in the photo above actually, of which I may need another copy as it is a rather interesting story and this copy is in bits now.

Anyway, thanks for coming by today. Do leave me a comment and then I can come and visit you, too!

  5. Hi Sarah, interesting desk. It's my experience that if you mix red and green paint you get brown ... in fact, it is my experience that if you mix enough colours you get brown :)) I use an old tile as a palette. Happy WOYWW, Elizabeth x #85

  6. Is that a basket of promarkers or Tria Pens? I think your canvas is lovely and bright, can't wait to see what you do with it. Also love that ATC, really well made.
